Dont forget that more oil goes to China and India now then ever before, so if the oil companies dont allow technology to develop, price of gas will go so high because of supply and demand, we wont be driving anything at all. Im sure that we will be seeing better EVs sooner rather then later.

you must be working for big oil.

Big oil will not allow technological advancements for batteries, because it will devalue their oil. they can't see far enough into the future that the EV industry can and will replace oil money.

You think people are choosing IC over EV? Most people I konw don't even know what EV stands for, and don't evne konw there're EV's on the road.

Not true with oil at $41 dollars a barrel there is no market for fully electric vehicles. Believing that the oil companies are behind the death of the old EV1 is ridiculous. Remember that car came out before the huge SUV craze even began, gas was cheap. I would suggest you do come research on the market before you try to comment on the size of one market compared to another. Big SUV's still outsell Priuses by a wide wide margin. Nothing wrong with big SUV's if people are willing to pay for them.
GM fought against the EV from the start. It was renegade GM engineers who delivered the Impact, and GM spent years killing the idea.
First, in 1994, they bought control of the batteries, and tried to suppress them.
Now why would they do that??
