Fire marshals are working all weekend to make sure trips to haunted houses don't turn into a real-life nightmare.
Officials have put in safety codes to keep the scares safe during Halloween, WESH 2 News reported.
Screams mean success at Terror in Orlando on International Drive, but there can be hidden dangers if the house isn't up to code.
Many attractions worked for months on safety codes.
"Safety issue of fire is our No. 1 concern," Greg Davis, Vice President of the Terror in Orlando haunted house, said. "It's the fake scary. We don't want real scary here, we don't want people hurt."
