I've completed the updating of Vesper's sprites, and they look nice if you ask me. This didn't take nearly as long as I thought it would, which bodes well for the updating of the other characters. Be sure to keep up with the updates on the SHADEs of Manhattan sub-forum at www.mugenguild.com.

Anyway, Vesper has been overhauled and she has of course recieved an aesthetic makeover, so I decided to do a quick survival run and post it up. She ditches the very Cammy-esque riding boots for more character-relevant thigh-high boots. She also no longer has the special Till Dawn, which was her backflip kick that kept her grounded. It was too fast and cheap, and had no real purpose other than making it easy for her to get away from her opponent if she gets too close or makes a mistake. She's already very fast and tricky, so I figured she didn't need it. Instead, I replaced it with a new special, called Sudden Dawn, which is a warp/dash maneuver followed by a machine-gun like punch to the mid-section. I think it looks nice and is very useful. She also gained an EX version of that move, giving her 2 EX Moves. I hope you guys look forward to playing as her and all the other updated characters in SHADEs 2.

On a different note, PotS Nash has some of the most stubborn, frustrating AI I've encountered. He blocks everything (making me wish he had a guard stun meter), and has ridiculous reaction times, as evidenced in the last fight here where he keeps cartwheeling back and forth every time I try to hit him. When I try to throw, which he can't block, he just cartwheels or sidesteps out of the way, and takes advantage of every little tick Vesper is in recovery. PotS Nash is fun to play as, and is one of the best in Mugen, but I'm sorry, the AI is just not fun to fight because it's, well, it's too hard dammit. I wish there were a more mature way to put it, but it's very frustrating.

  • Yes, Vesper is an original character, she's part of my full-game SHADEs of Manhattan. This is her SHADEs 2 version.

  • Damn, somebody rated it two stars. Everyone's a critic I guess.

  • haha the trap gunner character select cool :)

  • great stuff man, its rare to find original mugen creators, I've been searching on mugen guild for some and came across you.

  • Wow, she looks a lot better with her new sprites and such. Also I see that she has become a lot more balanced and solid and still retains her speedy and combo friendly style.

    Keep up the great work!

  • you're god

  • Great job so far! :)

  • She looks pretty good.

The only thing I would change is her face during her bite animation.

It just doesnt match the qulity of the rest of her animation.

I'd make it look more like a kiss.

Make her close her eyes when she bites down.
