First off I want to give credit to FULMTL(aka markara7 on youtube) for showing these pieces of software to me. This is rendered footage in real time (at the time of recording obviously), of a demo that is only 177kb in size! Dont believe me? You can download it here : http://www.mediafire.com/?glm0cgbzbyz
According to my friend(who showed it to me), it was made by a German dev. team, who apparently also developed a similarly small (in size at 95kb)mini game(can be found here: http://www.mediafire.com/?dgjyddzdxz3 ), that REALLY shows how you can make the most out of such a small storage space. When you start it up, you will be asked what graphic settings you'd like to choose. In my mind the graphics of both pieces of software are amazing, especially for their size. Be warned, you need a pretty decent rig to run them, because both take advantage of advanced lighting effects. If anyone knows the TRUE origin of these two pieces of software, PM it to me, and I will replace those links with the original ones, but I was unable to find any. Also excuse the occasional slowdowns, when normally running through this real-time rendered demo, I can max it out with full AA and effects, but Fraps(the recording software) seemed to take a bit of a toll on it in some areas.
This was rendered and recorded using the following hardware:

AMD 64 X2 3800+ (In the process of upgrading)
3GB of PC2-5300 DDR2 SDRAM
EVGA Nvidia GeForce 8800GT OC'd
Windows Vista Home Premium

Update:
I've just found the file(for the demo shown) hidden on my HDD, and Here's the download link..

Try it for yourself... Now that I know where the file is, I'll upload it again if the link ever goes down...

  • Check the update in the vid info, I JUST re-uploaded the file..

Now actually go try it before making yourself look like a fool again... When you run the tech demo, it's rendering in real time...

  • this looks quite amazing. but i dont understand whats the deal here?

Are you saying that I can run this on my PC with very low video-memory requirements? Or just that it only takes like 177 KB of Hard Drive (Disk Space) ?

I only have 250 MB of video memory. Will I be able to run this or will I need like vid memory in GB's ?

Its very good again, thanks. =]

  • The impressive bit is, it packs a lot of visual detail in such a small file size(177kb).. It is a BIT demanding, but compared to the hardware that's out now, any current gen PC should be able to run this tech demo ok.. What are your specs? This techdemo is obviously more GPU intensive than CPU intensive.. I see you have a 256mb video card, which one exactly?

Even an 8600GT should be able to run this demo relatively fine..

  • When was this 2000?

  • Here is the link to further info and all of their demos(scroll down to see links):

Would let me post a link but search for Farbrausch and wikipedia

  • The file is not there...

  • could you upload the file again please ?

  • this is .kkrieger isn't it?

  • @xAquinasx That is nonsense. Games are trying to expand their space requirements to lower the CPU and GPU requirements, not the other way around.

  • And where is the file now? :( I want to download it

  • From what I remember about this demo from farbrausch is that it generates everything from just code, even textures, and that it generates about 2GB worth of data that is used in the demo. Amazing work but them. I wonder how games would be if some of this was used in big titles to cut down on size.

  • I remember being in awe after watching it play on my machine, some time ago. Yup, that's pretty amazing for 177kB. :]

  • Well what can i say gob smacked ! awesome upload and second thing how long did this demo take to put together in the early days of graphic and demo design i had a program called videotracker this program was cool it would run vectors also title image video A graphics but this is amazin 10000% credit for this is cool regards *_*
