If WAR had HDR, and bloom, and AA and AF.

Song:
Pixies - Where Is My Mind

Because I'm getting a rather large influx of mail from you guys wondering how this is possible, here is how (sorta)

You can force Anti-Aliasing and Anisotropic-filtering via Nvidia control panel or ATI Tray Tools depending on your video card. As for the bloom/hdr part of it, unfortunately that is impossible to add while actually playing the game (I used Adobe After Effects to add in those effects after I recorded it with Fraps) so at the moment WAR can't look as amazing as it does in the video. Sorry!

  • "Bloom & HDR The game client now allows users to enable Post Processing effects to heighten the visual experience of WAR. This will add bloom and HDR (High Dynamic Range) lighting to the game world. Users will experience a visually harmonious and enhanced feel in the game world through these two rendering techniques."

Looks like they are finally adding it in. Anyone still play this game anymore?

  • If your system can run THAT in a zerg fight and not lag your god.

  • I only run an e8400 @3.4ghz, an old ATI 2900xt, 4gb ddr2 800mhz RAM, and a single 500gb 32mb cache HD. Either a new video card or hard drive (for fraps recording only) would significantly improve my fps ^_^

  • I've updated the description on how I made the video look all pretty. Note that there is no possible way to add HDR/bloom while playing WAR. But you can add AA/AF.

  • Ofc people play it :)

  • The latest patch has improved performance to this game by a huge amount btw, now this would run easily on alot of computers

  • actually its possible to add bloom in warhammer online.

    /watch?v=VsTNoIETGLo&feature=related

theres a tutorial in the video description

  • I've noticed what you said about lowest quality and highest quality running at exactly the same framerate.

The game won't use more than 30% of a modern video card, even with forced AA/AF. A lot of it is CPU rendered, and when that happens, there isn't much of a difference in what CPU you're using.

I've ran the game on a FX60, e8600 massively overclocked and an i7 at 4ghz and they all ran within +/- 1fps of each other if even that in large fights.

Mythic please optimize the game already

  • Yea there's pretty much not alot you can do to increase performance in zerg fighting, its kind of dumb I wish they would redo the engine totally, For example I get the same FPS on the highest settings possible and the lowest settings possible during a fort fight. Going from max to nil should show some performance increase!

  • Wow. Stunning.

  • Even systems much higher end than yours run exactly the same in a zerg, especially inside a keep... about 10-11 fps. Don't think upgrading is going to go help very much...
