http://www.myfreesociety.com In this follow up video to The Philosophy of Liberty: Property, we explore Frederic Bastiat's concept of Legal Plunder. Is it ever OK for government to steal your stuff and give it to someone else? Or is government just a glorified organized crime syndicate ala Tony Soprano? Does it really make sense for citizens to plunder each other like competing bands of vikings?

This video is one of the few places that mentions that public schools plunder liberty. Very few people realize that fact, but think about this: Why is there such a large debate in public schools over creationism vs evolution if children were given the liberty to choose which side to believe? Our schools force students to believe one theory or another, rather than giving them the liberty to learn arguments on either side and then choose.

I subbed you. Did you create this video? That you don't have more views than this is very unfortunate. Certainly worthy of MORE. Take a look at my channel and sub back if you like what you see. Start off with "Nothing to Fear but Government itself." Peace.

I'm ok with people organizing themselves in small regions, where the "leaders" can see and be in touch with whats truly happening, and most importantly can be charged for how they "rule".

If you are forced to pay every month to the government to get these services like firefighters or health services, or even security, why can't you pay private companies to do so? The main problem s\is that you can't stop paying the gov, even if it's services are terrible.

I agree, Anarchy is only a temporary phase and will almost always revert back to an oligarchy.

“Socialism, like the ancient ideas from which it springs, confuses the distinction between government and society. As a result of this, every time we object to a thing being done by government, the socialists conclude that we object to its being done at all."

I'm not a Libertarian, so the video seems a little off. Maybe it's better to have people rob you by a "civilized" government than be brutalized in a physical, personal & humiliating way. God will one day plunder the whole earth when Jesus Christ is the King of kings during the millennium & afterwards. Someone will always be in charge of providing services like water for crops, pure air, healthy leaves, protections against violence, plunder or herbs to extend life & all these cost money & honor.

Ever heard of insurance? Charity? No one is saying that social work can't be done, just that you can't forcibly take money from one group in order to give it to another.

Social programs in government are essential, yes. To demonize one is laughable. Would you like to have to pay one giant bill to the fire department when your house catches on fire after you just lost everything? Or owe massive fines after being saved by the police?

No, we as society help each other by paying a small tax so when bad luck hits we can survive. This same concept is used for things like social security and welfare programs.
