to prevent fungus and other nasties from attacking your plants add a cap full of hydrogen peroxide, it will even oxygenate your plants more

Very nice! My cucumber gets to around yours, I see the little guy grow and then he got like a dark color and died :-( Do I need to take a brush and do what you did? Do I need to pollinate the female? Is this why my cucu's won' grow? Thanks

@happygameshow peppers are considered self pollinating. which means they have both pollens on each flower. Some people shake the pepper plant or alot of people just place some fans on there plants that blow them easy which will pollinate them. If you want to save seeds you have to pollinate by paintbrush individually so you dont cross pollinate different peppers. hope this helps.
hi, just subscribed seen some of your videos and liked them....i have one questions about the cucumbers/or tomato's, can you add a fan to let the air pollen them self, say with two or more plants around each other? keep up the good work, you give a lot of information and keep it interesting, thanks

@The831Z Adding the fan is good for circulation especially around the cucumbers which tend to get dew on their leaves. As far as the fan pollinating them that would be hit or miss. On tomatoes I use a cheap $5 electric toothbrush to just touch the back of the flowers. Since peppers and tomatoes self pollinating you just need to get the pollen moving on each flower instead of flower to flower. With Cucumbers you need to take pollen from the male flower and pollinate the female flower.

More on last post. Does it matter if you pollinate using pollen from the same plant or a different plant? Do you think that a reflector blanket closing the front and left side would be a good idea to retain light? Did you plant only one plant per pot? Creative and interesting design for your lights and hood. Thank you.

@johnatncsu I pollinate using both plants. Sometimes one plant only has males and the other has females. So I usually pollinate both together. Any reflective would be helpful. This was just a temp home till I get my grow room up and running. each bucket has only one plant which now is all over the trellis. I'll have to do an update video soon. Thanks for the comments.

Well done. Very educational. I wonder how difficult it is to distinguish a female flower from a male flower. Does a female flower have a small fruit prior to pollination? You said that the fruit would drop if not pollinated, so I think that the key to identify a female flower is to look for fruit, but I would like for you to please confirm that. How often do you pollinate a female flower? Just once? Do you pollinate as soon as you can identify a female flower?

@johnatncsu Its easy on a cucumber the female has the little mini cucumber behind the flower. The male has just a green stem. As soon as the female opens the flower full. I find open males and use a paint brush to get male pollen then gently brush the female. I keep pollinating the female once a day till the flower closes and dries usually 2-3 days. By doing this I have had much better pollinating success.
