About 11:30 a.m. June 8, 2009, roughly an hour after a judge ruled against preservationists that the demolition of what was left of Tiger Stadium in Detroit could come down, wrecking crews were back at it. They continued tearing into the upper deck along the third base line and made their way toward home plate - and tore into the broadcast booth that was once home to Hall of Famer Ernie Harwell. Go to www.buildingsofdetroit.com for more photos, history and news about Tiger Stadium, the fight to save it and the loss of this historic ballpark.

  • If only Detroit would raze the other 40,000 vacant/ burned buildings all over town. But instead they knock down a landmark.

  • To me the broadcast booth was the heart of the stadium, and now that it has been ripped out the stadium is indeed dead.

This is one of the saddest video clips I have seen in my lifetime.
