my hubby and I were at that concert! I was not impressed at his advice to steal, but he has a point, prices are ridiculous.

Yes. You did. But so did I. It's a dark tradeoff between supporting your favorite artists and supporting the bloodsuckers that run his/her shit. Though, bands tend to make most of their money from touring and merch, rather than album sales. I own all of NIN's major releases, and some EPs too. I like having a hard copy. The physical album is every bit a part of the artist's vision.

Agreed. The physical album is just as part of the experience as much as the music is.

Year Zero was a perfect example. I played the ARG as long as I could, which I found through the link hidden in both the liner notes and the phone number on the back of the CD case. Too bad I didn't make it all the way to the secret show =( :P

He was specifically aiming that at australia since they charged more for his CDs there, inpraportionally higher because his popularity is so high...

I know - copies of Year Zero there go for upwards of forty dollars. He thinks it's bullshit, and I'm sure everyone else does too.

Gotta love Trent Reznor =]

you think music is expensive just in australia? entertainment prices in general are through the fucking roof across the world man. and fuck supporting artists. artist's get jack shit for their work through cd sales unless they are independent, or own all of the rights to their music instead of their label. the only people getting supported through music sales are the record label exec's that already have enough money to buy three or four small european countries.

what? i have spent over 270 dollars, and I've only got about 12, but i guess music is way more expensive in Norway ...
but i agree with you, if you are a real fan, dowloaded files aren't enough, you have to own the albums, then the music means more, it feels more valuable in away

well, to be fair, I did buy most of them discounted - for example, I DO have the Closure VHS, BUT the original owner scarred the box. I'm not one to care much about condition, all I care about is the music. So while the average mint copy goes for at LEAST 60, I got mine for 10 bucks on Amazon.

In addition, ordering in quantity saves a shitload on shipping. ($2 flat rate per entire order saves a LOT more than I originally thought it would)
