  • I live in northeastern PA and I remember seeing one perched on the top of our high clothesline pole in the shade of our walnut tree. I don't believe they are common here. This guy was really lost I guess.

  • This is definitely Caprimulgus europaeus, i believe that only the males make the "churring" song. The RSPB website has a good recording of Nightjar that you can listen to.

  • Strange. Are we talking about the same bird, (Caprimulgus Europaeus)? All that I heard from Caprimulgus, was scary, thrilling moaning. This *churring* can't even compare to this what I heared. Can you explain it? I am not an ornitologist, and maybe I'm wrong.

  • What do you mean? it's "churring" constantly throughout the video, perhaps you need to turn your volume up. I see and hear them every year so I know what they look and sound like.

  • Sorry, but I hear nothing. I heard nightjar call live, and know how it sounds like.
