By request a short clip showing how I adjust the string in the String Jaws of the Klippermate tennis/racquetball/badminton racquet stringing machine. Note: This was only my 2nd time using this stringer....please do not judge speed by this clip. I am simply showing examples of 1st too much string and 2nd too little string and how I hold my fingers/string so that you can adjust string length in the gripper jaws w/o the string popping out/off. After a while you get where you can hit the right amount of string the first or 2nd bar drop almost all the time.

  • How do you adjust for the tension?

  • @MOGULMANv on the slim steel bar is a steel weight that you can slide up and down the bar. The bar is marked with markings from 20 to 90 pounds (also marked in kg). The further the steel weight on the bar is slid towards the end the more tension will be applied to the string due to increased leverage. The more the weight is slid in towards the machine the less tension is applied to the string. Once you have the machine in front of you it becomes very clear how it works.

  • why my stringing machine jaws slipery?.....

  • @coneful Have you cleaned the jaws? Some strings have a slippery coating on them that rubs off on the jaws after several string jobs. Try cleaning the jaws with some alcohol to remove this residue. Also look closely at the video and make sure you are wrapping the string around and into the jaws correctly. You could even try wrapping a particularly slippery string around twice, but this really shouldn't be necessary.

  • Hello,I am new to this and I just bought a Badminton stringing machine. I used a fishing scale to understand the tension. but at 18lb the tension shows 21lb how do I work around it and fix it please help. Thanks in advance.

  • @mysteryimpt Sorry I can't help you...not really sure what you are asking and the Klippermate is the only stringing machine I am familiar with. Maybe check out a badminton message forum and ask there. Good luck.

  • @coneful THANKS!...

  • @mysteryimpt

when you bought the stringing machine the scale is shown on the bar of the drop wieght . When the drop weight is in the horizonal position it is at the correct tension.

  • This machine will give identical results to that of a $3,000 top of the line electronic stringing machine. The only difference? Time. It takes about 45 minutes to do a natural gut job as opposed to 30 on a top of the line system. Tension is accurate within a pound + or -. Usually the only people who bash the Klippermate are those that dropped an enormous amount of money and stringer and think price equals quality.

  • @ktmailserv I can't honestly say. I don't have a string tension gauge. The Klippermate is a dropweight so is a constant pull machine which helps. Search the message board at the Tennis Warehouse website for feedback on this particular machine. A few posters have done tension tests and rated it favorably for accuracy. It has flying clamps so there is some drawback.
