Thanks for posting; I've been trying to find this clip in my video collection for ages. It's a brilliant example of proving your beliefs. I've referred to this experiment in many a religious debate over the years.

It's crucial that Dawkins did not to impart any addition momentum into the cannonball as he released it, even the slightest additional tug before the release could've sent it screeching back with enough force to impact his face (probably not painfully so, but enough to skew the point he's trying to make).

Personally I'd doubt my own ability to release a cannonball in such a way as to not impart additional momentum. - Aside from that, safe as houses (as they say). Excellent demonstration.
