This is a video documentation of: Machina Temporis

Klusterruine, Berlin, Germany, 2002
architectural installation by Yumi Kori
Sound installation by Bernhard Gal
Materials: mixed media ( translucent fabric, stainless steel wires, speakers)

Yumi Kori in collaboration with Bernard Gal.
Attempts to revive the spatial dynamics of the original architecture, without reconstructing the building itself. It was intended that the experience of each visitor moves beyond that of a pilgrimage to a historical monument.

Instructions: Walk through the passage of light, bending under the screens one by one.

Before: Franciscan Monastery Church, built in the 12thC.
Site: Heavily destroyed during WWII. After the fall of the Berlin wall, the site, near Alexanderplatz, turned into a popular tourist spot.

Project: Installed 4 scrims that corresponded to the missing arches/ spatial thresholds.
