  • A few months after the David Letterman Show was canceled, Dave was a guest on the Tonight Show and showed this clip.

  • Interesting that later Dave would employ Tom Snyder.

  • that isn't really letterman. it's a ventriliquist dummy made to look vaguely like him.

  • @gswoop40

Well, to be fair to the late Tom Snyder......show me anyone who's successful in television--or who's up and coming--who isn't something of an egomaniac!

  • I totally disagree with you. Tom Snyder, although he had a tremendous ego (or so it was reported) was never the kind of interviewer to rip all over guests. He actually like Dave and Dave had immense respect for Mr. Snyder as a broadcaster hence his arguing with CBS to hire him after "Late Show" premiered. Sorry. I met Tom Snyder and he was one of the nicest gentleman who ever worked in the biz, ego a side....LOL...

  • Tom was slowly trying to knock Letterman down this whole interview. Tom's ego was horrible. Wow. When he did the show in the late 90's, I couldn't get my thick skull around why he was hosting a talk show. It bewilders me even more so when I see his earlier footage. They market one of his DVD packages as PSYCHEDELIC , but its' only cause the Grateful Dead perform on the show, and they all look like they are singing in the Kokomo video. (late 70's vibe)

  • lol that was fantastic. All the people were panicking but Letterman was smiling and wrapping up
