The Electric Company indeed got its power from the Children's Television Workshop (now Sesame Workshop), but it aired on PBS.

I remember seeing this a few times when watching Sesame Street in the '90s. It made a resurgence now and then before that animated one where they sing "This is PB-Ehh-ehh-ehhs!!! Hoo hoo!" then a dog walks by and barks.
