I think Paul Anka knew that, and that is why it was a while before he recorded his own version. The song was as you know written for Sinatra with Sinatra's unique approach to singing and his career in mind. I think it underscores the genius of Paul Anka. To be able to write a great song requires a great talent, but to be able to write a great song for a specific artist requires yet another level of talent that few songwriters possess. And Anka did it at the age of 27 which is remarkable.
