Draco is tortured and put under the imperius curse by Moody. He then does certain things that he doesnt mean to but is forced to because of the imperius curse that he is under. Draco's father thinks that forcing his son to do things he doesnt want to by subject of the imperius curse is a good idea because he feels that Draco has been drifting from the Dark Side. Hermione is in love with Draco and doesnt realize that he needs to be saved until the very last minute. It's too late because the imperius curse is so powerful that Draco can't be taken out of it anymore. Hermione has to make a choice: should she let her love for Draco keep her from protecting the people that she cares for or should she keep Draco alive, which would only cause him to harm more people unintentionally?
