Using our lightbank softbox continuous lighting kit Gavin Hoey has produced another great video tutorial. First of all there is an overview of the product then he shows how to combine this lighting kit that uses daylight bulbs with daylight giving a balanced shot. Then he goes on to show how to add light to a subject in an ambient light situation.

Although this video concentrates on a video shoot the same principles apply to still photography.

The product can be found on our website www.smick.co.uk

  • Recommend a good light for making movies at nighttime? In a not so big room, just a simple daylight light. Appreciated.

  • @HadynsTVdoc Go to our website and onto the video lighting category and anything in there.

  • To find the right color balanced low energy bulbs, can you find the right color with generic florescents or do you need to use socialized photo versions?

  • @RonansRecordingShow The bulbs that come with this unit are 5400k colour temperature a generic fluorescent would actually give a green cast.

  • HAHAHA! I love this guy and I think he does a really good job explaining techniques. I just think it's so funny how pissed his wife looks all the time. "Honey, come here, I need to do another video!"

  • Wow that light great! Video looked perfect!

  • Good work

  • Thanks a lot for the great tips!

    hey try to use h t t p : / / before your website address so it's clickable

  • Awesomeness. Thanks

  • Thank God...A new video from Gavin Hoey.

  • @snappuppy If you needed video capability with still photography this is a good compromise if budget is not a concern then video lighting and studio flash for still photography would be more versatile.
