This is a Raffin 31/100 organ being cranked at the Organ Rally in Sutter Creek, CA on October 10, 2009. The organ has five ranks of pipes that can be switched on and off. The gentleman on the right is working the stops for the guest operator turning the crank.

The roll is from Melvyn Wright and I believe the two tunes are 'Sheik of Araby' and 'Whistling Rufus'.

The 3rd annual rally was organized by AMICA member John Motto-Ros and was attended by organs and their owners from all over California.

  • I know this Organ. It's a Raffin 31/119. Not a 100.

  • @GermanStreetOrgan I think you are indeed better off asking shiro0 that... in a true sense, one can not do anything "wrong" with the stops; alas, everybody has a different taste... personally, I would use the stops differently, but so would anybody else, 2! Unless you have a Roll by Raffin with the stop-numbers marked on the roll, you are unlikely to hear the same stops used between two grinders... and even *then* timing will be different depending on the musicality & the reflexes of the grinder

  • @shirco0 Whats wrong with the stops?

  • @theorganguy Whats wrong with the stops?

  • I know you join flickR, I join it too im "carousel lover"

  • @shirco0

Well, why don't you post a video of yourself playing your organ so we can hear how it's done?

  • We love the Sutter Creek area. Perfect type of music to hear while strolling along and shopping or wine tasting.

  • I love castlewood organs

  • 0:28 is indeed "Sheik of Araby"

2:22 should thus be "Whistling Rufus"?

    to shirco0:

it says in the description: these are "guest" operators and thus have had no practice... you can thus only blame the owner on bad choices of stops. And I think neither thought they'd be exposed to the world when the "unfortunatebystander" aimed his camera at them...

  • Oh dear! A beautiful Organ, spoiled by two incompetent Grinders! Please go away and learn how to play the instrument, before you play again to a worldwide audience.

It can only get better I'm sure.
