  • Claudette Colbert was a class Act., and never ever gave a bad performance. Capra was at Columbia and got Gable on loan from MGM, nearly every actress in town turned down It Happened One Night but Colbert sensed a hit and made the film and movie magic with Clark Gable.

I saw Colbert on Broadway in "Arent We All" with Rex Harrison. She was then in her late 80's but incomparably stylish and

had the audience enthralled. A great star

( Ginger Rogers was in the audience and I got Her autograph)

  • Great video! Love Claudette. Thanks!!

But I guess you guys made a mistake. The info on the right says Bette Davis, shouldn't it be Claudette Colbert?

  • From what I heard Claudette Colbert gave Frank Capra a difficult time and complained throughout this movie. She also asked for more money because she was a star for "It Happened One Night." She later regretted her behavior once she got

the Oscar for this movie. That was from Frank Capra's son.. who told the story. Clark Cable was a sweet heart and enjoyed doing the role despite him being loaned out.

  • wow still pretty!

  • Wonderful speech from Colbert. Incredibly elegant witty actress (she's even better in Palm Beach Story than she is in It Happened One Night).

  • Lovely. She was a real Lady. A wonderful actress, she could do anything. Drama or comedy or historical pictures, always first class.. I think she needs to be re-discovered by todays audiences probably more than any other great star.

  • She was still beautiful, and all without plastic surgery, which is ubiquitous today.

  • Frank Capra has always been my favorite director. His films were so evocative of nostalgic America.

  • Clark was there is spirit, She still had it..Being in her age..What did she die from?

If any one knows, what years did she pass away?RIP

  • @ToughXArmy69 Claudette is my favoirte actress so don't take it the wrong way when i say this, she hated making "It Happened One Night" she even told friends after filming, "i just finnished the worst picture ever." She only did the movie to ger some extra cash for a planned vacation. She didn't sense anything about that movie. But yes, she sure was a class act. Wonderfull actress, person and also so gorgeous.

  • Claudette was one of the greatest! Lucky we still have her movies. Her career is a catalogue of an intelligent and very talented actress.

  • @ToughXArmy69 I love Colbert but she did NOT sense a hit and take on the movie for that reason, she was actually forced to do that movie as a punishment. After she completed filming she actually said 'I've just finished the worst film of my career', or something to that effect. It wasn't untill after the movie became a hit that she began liking it.
