Preserved steam locomotive no 70013 Oliver Cromwell pulls the Cathedrals Express steam excursion from Ely to Oxford on a wet and windy day, 8th December 2011. The train is seen passing through Sonning Cutting at fairly low speed.
Oliver Cromwell is one of the "Britannia" class of 4-6-2 Pacific locomotives, built for British Railways in the 1950's just before the push to dieselisation. She is part of the UK's National Collection, owned by the National Railway Museum. She is used for mainline charters such as this, and for visits to heritage railways.
Just seen this, thanks. Interesting, looks like using sand.
