  • I won't keep buggin' ya about the topic, but it is one I have been interested in for over 15 years and I am writing a book on it. I just pop into youtube chats for this particular topic to get a feel of what people are saying and to see what I may need to address in my book.

Keep up the thinking, and try not to pigeon hole yourself into a specific philosophical worldview (such as Ayn's). Stay logical.

    Cya around,

    Trick

Naw...there are certain (work related) reasons I cannot create such vids at this time...as well as a few other reasons.

I know the comment section is too much of a hassle...but tis all I will do right now. Thanks fo' the offer. :)

  • @Beethovens7th It's not a language issue. Suffice to say neither side has convinced the other and we should leave it at that.

  • @NotThat3 Maybe I'm being unfair. Maybe it's a language issue....

  • @trick0171 trick, I just had an idea. Would you be interested in having a video debate with me on this topic? I've never done that with anyone before, but I think it'd be interesting. I probably wouldn't be able to do it for at least a few days though. Anyway, send me a PM if you're interested.

  • @NotThat3 If you haven't done so, go read Binswanger's thesis. The whole thing. Then watch all 3 of my videos again and pay very close attention to every word. Especially in my 1st video, every word was chosen very carefully and used in a "strictly speaking" sense. After that, if you're still confused, ask me some more questions and I'll try and clarify. But I won't help you if you continue to ask questions that show that you weren't paying attention.

  • @NotThat3 Honestly, NotThat3, I don't think you're bringing up any questions that I haven't answered in my 3 videos already. You're just wording things slightly differently. I have more patience with trick0171 because he's not coming from an Objectivist background, so there is a lot more explaining to do. But I really don't know what else to say to you except to repeat things I've already said.

  • @NotThat3 Yeah, I'm completely against any kind of skepticism (in the philosophical sense). It's self-contradictory. I'm not talking about having a "skeptical attitude" towards a particular idea. That's fine. What I mean is the philosophical idea that certainty is impossible. THAT idea is skepticism, and is 100% false.

  • @NotThat3 A2 In this regard a deterministic human being is just the same. You test your knowledge against the facts of reality and adopt the knowledge which fits the best (ideally fits perfectly.) What makes a deterministic human being know for sure that his tests aren't being manipulated by his deterministic mechanisms? He trusts the input of his senses, and continues from there.

Maybe I misunderstood you because I don't see why this is anymore of a problem with deterministic view.

  • @NotThat3 ....content of his mind and whether or not it fits with reality.
