March 11th was a big day for Austin's animal welfare community. The Austin City Council approved a plan that will begin to turn the Town Lake Animal Center into a no-kill shelter over the next two years. Last November, the council agreed to create a city animal advisory committee, and last Thursday, council members met again to approve the plan that committee developed. A lot of people showed up in support of the plan and members of Austin Pets Alive!, a remarkable rescue organization, shared their thoughts.
