  • How long is the booting-time?

  • @SkateparkHip

In my case, it's always on.

I think it could take about 30-40 seconds, like other ubuntu installations.

  • why do you have an external HDD?

    (just wondering)

  • @fantasmaofdoom

My first idea was to make a diskless unit, running from an USB flash.

But, nowadays, I use this machine to many other things, not only as XBMC player, and it's runnign 24x7.

So finally I've purchased a 320Gb internal 2,5" HD for the system and as fixed storage.

However, and external 1TB HD is good for extra storage space. In fact all my movies are there.

I hadn't any problem with the network. I use ethernet adapter (not the wireless one) and it worked out of the box.

    Maybe this problem?

    [forum.xbmc.org / showthread.php ? t=58485]

In the other hand, I recommend you to install Ubuntu, and then install XBMC in top of it, for example following the [guide wiki . xbmc . org / ? title = XBMCbuntu]

I think it's easier to resolve issues with an standard ubuntu installation.

  • @jonaguera Ah ok :)

For my HTPC I choose a case with 3.5" HD

    3.5" 1TB = 80euro

    2.25" 500GB = 87euro

Might be a bigger case but you have more "bang for the buck"! :D
