  • Well, isn't that just typical of this present Rudd run spin party (also known as the ALP) do they ever stop spinning?

    No is my answer.

As soon as the public wakes up to this mob the better.

  • Once you have national socialist medicine, every issue of this kind becomes a political battle.

In a free market, if providing a surgery becomes cheaper, the price will come down because of competition.

Where have prices come down and quality gone up? In Lasik surgery and cosmetic surgery--two types of medical procedure in which INSURANCE AND GOVERNMENT ARE NOT INVOLVED.

Get government out of health care, and you have two good results: lower costs, and FREEDOM.

  • Australian obstetricians are rorting Medicare. Why is the ALP able to stand up to the opthalmologists and yet support obstetricians? The ripple effect of paying for obstetricians as primary carers for healthy pregnant women, instead of just women with health issues as they're supposed to, is huge and is beggaring the hospital system. Midwives for women, surgeons for those who need surgery. What's not to understand?

  • Exactly. Next; audiologist charging obscene amounts for tests and hearing aids. And surgeons running a closed shop admitting few trainees in order to maintain their exhorbitant salaries (and egos).

If we allow costs to continue upwards, and gaps to continue downwards we will, very quickly, mimic the American health system where only the rich can afford to get sick, and others can go broke, or die.

  • Effective video supporting good public policy in an important area. Now need to follow up with future good policy and campaigns on other areas of medical specialist rorts.
