  • @CloudsBeyond I'm not disagreeing with you, and this isn't even about Wing Chun.

    1) It doesn't matter how you fight. You will hit people and people will hit you. You will win and you will lose. This isn't a movie.

    2) Just because you can do martial art, does not mean that you can fight. Fighting is a whole other world and you need to keep fighting to stay good at it.

    3) Forget about Sigung William Cheung or Sigung Emin Boztepe. There is only YOU and your OWN Wing Chun.

  • If GM Cheung was any good, how come Emin Boztepe then a novice smashed him so easily in a fight? Cheung students are clearly still in denial some 25 years later. Where was Cheung's deadly Di Mak in the fight? Why did he not ask for a rematch? Why did he shut up after it - regarding his claims to be the best fighter, and that Yip Man only taught the secret traditional system to him? Wake up people please - Cheung's Wing Chun is terrible & not realistic for street!

  • Gee, he's got really good angles on his chi sao.

  • Awesome. :D

  • These are all the fundamental concepts of Kung Fu, including Wing Chun, in southern China, where people tend to be moderate in build. There's a popular saying, "Four ounces can deflect a thousand kilo." So learning to feel the force of your opponent, and to change its course to your advantage is the path to the true art of Wing Chun.

  • ... and watch GM's foot steps (outside frame unfortunately, but you can still get some idea), he never once lost balance, always upright, center weight, even when throwing punches, throughout the session.

  • For those disbelievers, just watch carefully how many lower punches Sifu Sunny was trying to launch, and GM detected them and subsequently deflected them - all through feel, and this is a real Chi Sao in action, not prearranged. And, unlike many clips on youtube showing how Wing Chun practitioner are anxious to throw punches like they would get medal for it, GM is confident in defensive position, and yet, you just can't touch him!

  • Best Chi Sao ever. Luckily we have a clip to show just how great the Grand Master Cheung is. If you don't see it, you don't get it, and you would never learn it. Wing Chun is not about force, but all about manipulating the force, hence it requires sensitivity and softness as the key. Most of the Wing Chun clips here, unfortunately, are emphasizing force, power, and brute speed, and very robotic and mechanical. GM Cheung is the only one demonstrating the use/deflect/taking advantage of force.

  • emit boztepe!

  • shit sao
