Pat Hennebery drove Dick Mauceri's 67 Chevy II for its first shakedown runs in April 2008 at Island Dragway in New Jersey. Dick bought the car in November 2007. It was built by Jim Thore from Fancy Gap Virginia. Jim put everything he had over several years, into building this car as an NHRA Super Stock C Modified Stock (SS/CS). He was finally finished in late 2006, but never got to run the car. Unfortunately, Jim died in early 2007, without ever seeing his car get to the track.

In 2007, Pat Hennebery introduced me to NETO after we had spent a hectic month getting his old Camaro together for Dover Reunion day. We then got it race ready and Pat raced it once at Lebanon Valley in Sept 2007. One part of that car's long and varied history was in the late 1970's as a C/SM NHRA modified eliminator car. Pat and I were partners in that venture. In 1979, I located a 1967 Chevy II, built by SRD for Dave Aloisio, set up for super modified or modified production. Aloisio had sold it to some kid in Westchester, who obviously was overwhelmed by the purchase. Dick bought it from him, Pat & Dick parked the Camaro, and built the Chevy II. We campaigned it all over the east coast through 1981 (I think) in C/SM and only stopped when NHRA did away with Modified eliminator. The car eventually ended up in Canada, where it went through life as a bracket racer, and then an NHRA Super Stock. Where that car is now, I do not know.

Dick bought this Chevy II because it seemed so cool to run both Pat Henneberys Camaro and a 67 Chevy II in NETO, sort of what we did 30 years ago.

  • How many RPM ???

  • 9500 to 9600

  • A moment of clarity......Did the original car belong to Ed Racis?

  • No, My friend Dick Mauceri bought the car in North Carolina. I believe it was either a Super Stock car or bracket car and was being set up to run SS/CS when he bought it. The car was sold before it was finished and this video is only the cars second run as a SS/CS. I don't know the history of the car before Dick got it.
