In traditional Irish music, no one just sits around and listens. Everyone is expected to participate. While in Dublin in September of 2006, we took a Musical Pub Tour (+353 1 475 3313 or just go to the Oliver St John Gogarty's Pub for info) and, when they asked for volunteers, the following took place ...

  • my dad use to sing this to me when i was little

which is a little sad....and i always thought it was college men...and then the end the dirty bar...oh well.....

what a great childhood i had to have this as a bedtime lullaby...lol

  • Actually, we're both right. There are many versions of this song, they are adapted based on the audience. I've heard all of these.

    "common men"

    "college men"

    "Air Force men"

    "Chi Psi Men"

Funny that it was a bedtime song. We sang it in my college fraternity. lol

  • Wow, I was expecting Banks of the Old Raritan. I had completely forgotten about this song, but it came right back and I sang along!

  • Glad you liked it. I wish I had better editing software -- this is so dark and it would be great to see everyone.

  • You are a man born to be on stage. Your comfort level in front of an audience is extraordinary. It doesn't hurt that you can actually sing. Well done.

  • Thanks, my friend. We had a great time up there as well. Insider scoop: the laughter when I get to the line "and a gentleman dapper stepped out of the crapper" is because, at that moment, a guy walked out of the men's room and I gestured to him. Couldn't have planned it better.

  • Got to love that good old time music.

  • Mr. C., that was great. I'm not Irish(my wife is, ooh the temper) but our fondest dream is to visit Ireland. I would love to participate in a Dublin "Pub Crawl". You have my extreme jealousy.LOL. =Stefan=

  • It comes across pretty well in the video that someone came out of the bathroom. Great timing.
