Ater two days camping and climbing near the escarpment in the Dogon country, we spend the night at Hotel Le Cheval Blanc in Bandiagara. The rooms are dome shaped with small portholes instead of windows and invoke fanciful comparison to Hobbit homes in the Shire. It is run by a Frenchman whose name I neglected to note, but we enjoyed his hospitality, excellent food and live music after dinner.
If I am reading the note correctly, the name of the band is Dogoguine Ouloun conprised of:
lead chant - Bandiagaro Sagaro
lead guitar - Bouba Sanoga
bass - Yero Dicko
calebasse - Abdouloye Senou
The camcorder was acting up and there are some digital artifacts in this recording which detract from my usual "push record and forget" crappy cinematography. Instead I've added a slideshow of Sigrid's photographs from the trip. Trust me, they are big improvement over the dance stylings of fellow traveler Wes, who would otherwise be prominently featured in video.
