Between 1915 and 1922 millions of ethnic minorities were killed through systematic murders and forced evacuations from their homes in Turkey. The Armenians suffered the brunt of this ethnic cleansing at the hands of intense and fanatic nationalism that swept Turkey. This video was made from rare film clips and news stories of 1922 which capture the pillage, and destruction of the Greek enclave of Izmir (Smyrna) which resulted in tens of thousands of Greek deaths in that city in September of 1922.
