That reveals a secret us old timers have known about for years--monster pike are mostly bottom feeders. They look for easy prey naturally on the bottom and tend not to trust suspended dead bait.

Its a nice fish for sure. but 20 plus? my biggest ever was 41" and it was fat and healthy. i released it, but i know it wasnt 20 lbs. 36-40 inches is not at least 20 pounds! 15 perhaps.

Assuming that's an 8 inch hole, that fish is about 36-40 inches - at least a 20 pounder. The rig they are using is called a Weed Line - Predator by LaDredge Outdoors. They also make those Reel Weeds.
