It could have been so simple...but it wasn't! Until recent times (about 1800), permanent enamels had to be fired on glass vessels by an amazingly laborious process, shown here. Today, the process really is as easy as it looks.
Enameling in general, yes - but many of the early Egyptian examples were not fired - just made into a paste with resin. Painted enamels are much more sophisticated and not used until MUCH later. 13thc AD. First painted on glass like in this example - and only later adapted to enamel on copper as grisaille.

@imagocorvi 15th c BC is correct. He's talking the enameled core formed Egyptian pieces. Enameled actually pre-dates glassblowing.
