Very interesting sparring, and I understand perfectly that the tri-section is hard to master and so the lack of trapping moves and such is entirely forgiveable. Very good video. And I don't think the bo staff user was doing anything wrong keeping his staff out there; he's using the reach and control advantage he has with an... ahem... simpler weapon ( :P ) to keep the trisection at bay, so to speak, and it worked quite well most of the time. Keep rocking, guys! :)

It's hard to find people competent with sansetsukon in Europe. ;)
This weapon isn't just that practical, it takes years to master - years most rather spend learning bo staff or nunchaku.

ok if this is an exhibition, both are beginners they guy withspear just hung it out to be hit, the three section needs more practice with three section

ok if this was an exhibition for beginners, but actual sparring you can see the student with spear just hung the weapon out, and the three section is also a beginner with the three section staff

i feel like the only real way to use the tri-sectional is as a flail only. but in a full contact sport you'll probably knock your partner out. the guy with the spear has alot of balls to stand there with that thing swinging like that. the range of the 3section is really deceptive. it probably has more reach than the spear.

How does someone get in on this? Where are you guys based?

I believe there are alot of trapping techniques in the 3 section staff not used
we had fun !
3x 70 cm rattan connected with rope - weapon weight 800 gramms. we´re going to explore this weapon further, but this is nothing to be used in a full contact sparring ...

@zukuru If you want to test it get someone that actually knows how to use it!
