Power is in the hands of the people if we are connected, communicating, working together, and having fun! This was SO fun to be a part of with everybody! Thank you all! This is the garden built yesterday at the University of Victoria(BC, Canada) Library. The University's decision to destroy the old garden, and not provide a new one, led to proposals and requests of many students who wanted a community garden. These were refused or caught up in the sludge of beauraucracy -the system was not serving the people as it was originally supposed to. So an organic emergence of hundreds of students, came together and built this. Previously it was lawn and rabbit poo. Police arrived but everyone circled up and cops left, they were out-numbered. At midnight, campus security accompanied by police bulldozed it....This is not the end. Food security is important. What if the propellor on the ship from california or Argentina breaks? Or there's no fuel. We are all only a few meals and an empty wallmart away from anarchy. Local food security is important. UVIC talks sustainability -like a lot of beauracracies, yet this shows their main priority; control.
