SILVER SPRING, Md. -- Despite qualms over a rare but potentially serious side effect of a depot formulation of olanzapine (Zyprexa), FDA advisers today recommended approval of the new version for schizophrenia.

"if someone is out of line in a nursing hope it would be acceptable to give them a shot every 2 weeks"...but do they discuss the acutal duration of the shots? these shots would deliver significat ammounts of medication to patients for months not weeks...like 7 months....risperdal consta was the 1st depot 2nd generation antipsychotic and it was said to last for only 8 weeks when in fact all the patients agree it lasts form more than 8 months with one dose. cruel and unusual punishment thats it

If asked any patient with schizophrenia or mental illness if Zyprexa works, they will tell you it doesn't. The only thing that works is MORE food, and water. It's well known that many with patients with schizophrenia and mental illness are underweight. Even the Eli lilly know this and they began instructing patients to drink a cup of water and have a meal when taking the medication. The only cure for schizophrenia and mental illness is rehabilitation and good food.

The main side effect of Zyprexa is Parkinsonian. The effects mimic Parkinsons in near exact effect. Patients will suffer from twitching, stiffening of muscles, and uncoordinated muscle contractions. It's well known that dopamine antagonists cause Parkinsonian effects. How come people continue to prescribe Dopamine Agonists for Schizophrenia and delirium? Wow, I know compliance is low, but all you need to do it threaten me with depot and I will make damn sure I take my meds everyday.

I know there is alot of psychiatric drug naysayers who talk bad about these medications but zyprexia is giving me a new outlook on life. So its either take the pill, or end up dead.
