Parhelion

A sun dog or parhelion. A natural phenomenon caused by sunlight passing through ice crystals.

You can just make out an upside down rainbow when the camera is pointed upwards.

Weird coincidence thing... Just prior to seeing this I'd been returning from Edinburgh on a bus, reading an issue of Fortean Times. The letters page had a photograph of a strange "rainbow cloud" spotted above Edinburgh by someone called Malcolm Fife,. That's the last thing I looked at before I had to put the magazine away because the bus was approaching my stop. I got off the bus, walked along a bit, turned around and saw this.

Video was filmed by my mother who I ordered to grab the camera and get outside pronto.
