Even chemical processes have ways of replicating results without using the same materials or measurements, cooking obviously allows for more creativity and variance as well.

@phazon55 That's a great point of view except that some processes - like baking and using egg whites - are chemical processes that DO require exact measurements and ingredients.

Anyone can put whatever they want in chocolate mousse, or anything else they want if it tastes good to them, cooking isn't so strict as to require only a single type of recipe and that's it, if it works, it works. Creativity is the quintessence of good cooking.
