Trailer: The Listening Project - a documentary film

The Listening Project is a captivating 85-minute cinematic journey around the world in search of the meaning of America. We follow four unique Americans through fourteen countries -- from a Shanghai hip-hop club to a war-ravaged Kabul neighborhood to a village at the foot of Mt. Kilimanjaro -- in each place asking "what do you think of America?" In beautifully-photographed locales, we encounter fascinating and diverse characters who reveal not only the impact of the U.S. on their lives, but also their perspectives on crumbling empires, human fellowship, and what it means to be a citizen in a globalized world.

Hopefully soon. We're applying to film festivals right now, and seeking a way to get it out... We hope it will premiere at a festival this fall and be available more widely early next year. But sign up on our mailing list on our website and we'll keep you posted.

The girl from Pakistan who said the the Jewish people control the media etc is exactly right. The guy who asked her what she thought about America said he didn't think that was true.. You would think that they would have someone with some knowledge of this country before asking questions in other country's.

I'm Deaf myself and alumnus from SIT Graduate Institute. The title reminded me of required textbook, "Heart Politics Revisited" by Fran Peavy as part of listening project. One request: could you put subtitle or closed caption on documentary for Deaf audiences? Thank you so much!

I agree, but Americans should take the first step and just accept outside knowledge. We all need to be more open to the world around us.

Informing Americans that they don't know anything about global matters doesn't hurt, but it really doesn't help. Americans need to take it one step further. We need to emerge ourselves in other forms of media besides the news on TV, since that just shows the US and maybe Iraq.

Keep in mind Americans, when you go to CNN, there is a 'global' tab.
