Avalanches are common in these parts but today's was one of the largest this season and it happened near Everest base camp at the lower West Shoulder and crashed into the lower Icefall. No one was injured or killed from this avalanche. Only ice dust made it to base camp.

  • Actually it was the other video we posted where a Sherpa unfortunately died.

  • just make sure not to climb with an outfit called Summit Climb. They nearly got me killed on Everest

  • I saw that huge serac when I trekked to Base Camp in March '09, and I feared it would come down during climbing season. It did.  Sad.
