This is my review after setup of the new 2010 Hennessy Hammock side entrance zipper version of the Explorer Deluxe model with the upgraded Hex fly and snake skins.
When I was considering one I could not find any reviews or video's before I decided to buy one, so I had to take a chance on it...it was worth every penny and hope this video helps anyone interested in this new model!
I truly believe in there products now and they are top notch quality. I have always slept in good tents in the past so this was definitley a change for me. And I can honestly say how the heck did I ever sleep in a tent and pack all that extra gear as well?
I have used mine about 6 times now and most recently on a 3 day kayaking trip on current river and once on a hiking trip. I added my own extra ridgeline with 550cord like Tom Hennessy suggested for the rain fly to help during bad weather or to give extra support and keep rain fly taught and off my hammock, It has clips on 2 corners of the hammock to attach rain catchers to for drinking water, I show this in the video.
I shed about 13lbs of gear and gained valuable space in my kayak and my backpack since I bought this HH super shelter and that's awesome!! I have not woke up once with a sore back or neck and I actually slept like a baby all rested and ready to go the next day! It breathes very well I had no condensation after a 55 degree night right next to a river. I'm hoping to test it in rainy weather soon and during the winter to see how well it holds up...check back for that later.
At 10 feet long , the Explorer Deluxe A-sym was designed for anyone up to 300 lbs.or up 7 feet tall. THE zipper is as good or better than YKK zippers. It has the same great materials, proportions and protection as the smaller Expedition A-sym.
And weighs about 3.9 lbs with everything packed in my Sea to Summit waterproof stuff sack
to a size around 6"x 13".
All Hennessy Hammocks include attached mosquito netting, detachable rain fly (Hex fly and snake skins optional), support ropes, tree huggers to protect the of the bark of trees, and stuff sack with set up Instructions on back.
Future gear reviews coming!
Besides the weather and stuff...can you screw in it?

@ericvonp LOL....actually we never tried that yet and I say again YET.... I'm sure it would be very possible! Just make sure your friends are not using the same trees your using to secure your hammock too, they might not appreciate the excessive movement...lol

Looks great, I think ill get one, because I would prefer it to a standard tent where you get the dampness of the ground, and rocky/rooty surfaces against your body. The only things I dont like, which im kind of seeing here, is there no where to put your boots really, so you might get it dirty if you take them in with you. Also, no where really for a bag, so you would either have to leave it out and in the rain, or in with you but might be tight against you and uncomfy...

@Balgore8 Yes your right about being off the the ground. And as far as your equipments actually you just hang your boots and any packs you have on the hammock line that runs to the trees on each end by carabiners. Then just setup the rainfly to keep everything dry in case of bad weather. Thats where I hang all my gear if I dont want it wet or just off the ground. In the summer I hang my fivefingers or water shoes inside the hammock with me on the inside ridge line just for convenience. Thx
