More to my point below, the target and camera is stationary, shooter is stationary, only the bullet and sound are moving with the (initially) much slower sound chasing the bullet. As soon as the bullet becomes transonic, then subsonic, the sound starts to catch up and if the bullet doesn't hit dirt first the sound will catch up. The bullet would no longer be making the "crack" though, because it is no longer breaking the sound barrier.

I wasn't there so I can't say if it is real or not. I am confused though by some of the arguments about the sound. I will use known data from my own setup to illustrate. the bullet and sound leave gun at same time, bullet 2630fps at muzzle and 1245fps at 1k. Avg speed = 1937.5 fps. Sound leaves at +/- 1125fps constant. TOF for bullet is 1.69 sec, time for sound to cover 3000ft is 2.66 sec. The difference between is .97 sec. That sounds about right listening to the video...am I missing something?

0:25 sounded more like the cameras focus.

@MrPyroMaster holy shit your right! crank up your spkrs and listen at 0:25

@deadtofall666 NOOOO! :) Between shots can be heard, to reload his gun. The bolt-action system is a typical voice! Not be confused.
This .22-caliber Hornet rifle, 100 to 150 yards away. Fired a longer shooting range, where the same sound was heard. The surrounding hills and beat back the sound that way. Not a hill, but several.
I'm sorry for bad english...

@MrPyroMaster your wrong listen to the time between u hear the crack of the bullet and then the gunshot there is nearly a second delay that is definately 1000 yds
-
definate 1000 yards as i was there with him ;)

1000Yards? HAHAHA 0:25 - 0:26 seconds it is possible to hear as you fill the weapon.
Very silently. But it is possible to hear. Fraud! At worst 100yardról you shoot! From the object depending on the neighbourhood repulse the sound of the weapon. Is disappearing because of this so as if from afar you would shoot.

@hugo121175 have you ever worked a pit??? the sonic crack is right overhead...sounds like a snap of a bullwhip or .22 @ 90 degrees from origin....the first sound you hear is the crack right at the camera which is at the target downrange and the 2nd sound is the rifle from 1000 yards back at the firing line..volunteer to work in the pits pulling and scoring targets at 1,000 and then you will understand!!!
you're being fooled by the sonic crack...listen close...first you hear the crack as the hole appears then you hear the shot later from a distance...
