Our site's name confuses people sometimes - they say they could never go back to eating animals, but then why does the vegan population stay the same size? I think we choose to stay vegan more often than we choose to go vegan - a lot more often.

  • PART THREE: Having said all that, I often come across people who say that they used to be vegan/vegetarian so there is a need for a website/youtube to help people to stay vegan.

    The reasons most often cited for 'going back to meat' were:

    a) too much effort

    b) pressure from friends or family

    c) health concerns (usually from ill-formed family members)

    d) they smelt something and got tempted

    e) they lost motivation

    So, if my previous comments seemed to be saying it's pointless, not at all.

    ...cntd: Later in life, I discovered the misery inflicted on animals to produce dairy and eggs. I had the same reaction I had when I was 8 and just couldn't do it any more. So, for me, I don't need any effort to 'try and stay vegan'. It's just what my heart tells me.

    What I DO need effort to do is to avoid 'vegan junk food' because I don't 'feel' it's abhorrent but I KNOW it's not too healthy for my body.

  • PART ONE:

    I'm 42 years old. The INSTANT I discovered where meat came from (at age 8) I stopped eating it. I just couldn't do it any more than most people could eat human flesh. So, for me, I didn't exactly 'choose'. It was just that I found the whole thing abhorrent. At that time, I didn't see milk and eggs as harming animals because (as a child) I thought, "They're going to give milk and eggs no matter what so I may as well consume them." cntd...
