  • Time for a full scale resurrection of a national carrier, only this time properly managed and fully competitive with the best in the business?

  • Why did Nigeria Airways go out of business??and why are its fleet decaying besides the runway in LAGOS??

  • They went out of business when they were officially liquidated, having acuired massive debts. At the heart of the problems were systematic mismanagement, corruption and underinvestment, which is tied with the two reasons already mentioned.

The decaying fleet was/is meant to be scrapped and were placed there for that purpose.

  • @NigeriaAirways Why have Virgin Nigeria been so successful? does it fly international also? Nigeria seems to be very devolped and growing.

All media coverage here in the west about Nigeria is usually negative..through youtube I get another picture of this huge country.

  • Virgin Nigeria have not been been so successful. In fact, they don't exist anymore. Business restructuring led to change to a Nigeria Eagle Airlines, which also recently ceased to exist. one or two promising airlines are there but there is no proper national airline(s) system in place yet to really get Nigerian aviation up to full world standard yet. But work on this is going on..

Any airline cannot function properly under such circumstances.

  • @RobertsDigital how do they get them to the scrap yard? they can not fly and we do not have any where for them to be put. cutting them up where they are will cost money that who will pay the bill, and where do the parts go? its sad as i remember flying locally and internationally on them and due to mismanagement and staff corruption it is no more.

  • @NigeriaAirways Amen to that.

  • @NigeriaAirways the planes are now decaying at the end of murtala muhammed runway....why dont they take the planes to the scrapyard ..who do they have to leave the planes there as an embarassment to every Nigeria..

  • corruption !!! end of story !!!!!!

  • @am1966ath i thought they have a new airines called "air nigeria" The logo for the airline looks to ugly as a matter of fact and very primitive...no offence.

First of all Nigerians need a new airline company for the country with a good name. And they need a more beautiful logo as well and a good design for the aircraft, not any primitive junk that wont benefit the airline industry. The look of the air nigeria + their second hand planes takes nigeria back to the 1940s. A country with oil.

  • @DANKOLA894 But all Nigerians aren t neither stupid nor corrupt? A country with oil and a population of 130million can t walk or use buses or river-boats? there are plenty of very wealthy nigerians living in London/Knightsbridge next to Harrods..strange that not any of these have started an airline together with Zenit bank???

  • @am1966ath how can the most populous single Africa Nation has no NATIONAL AIRLINE ?.. LACK OF PRIDE..BAD LEADERSHIP..AND SELFISHNESS..WILLINGNESS TO SELL MOTHERLAND FOR ALMIGHTY NAIRA...JULIUS OMOLE

  • Nigeria Airways: One of the best run airline in the world before the advent of military and governmental corruption and interventions. We were very proud of our 'flying elephant' back in the 70's and 80's. RIP NIGERIA AIRWAYS.
