Bill & Forrest Play "It's Yer Choice"

Billie my Australian Shepherd and Forrest my Parson Russell Terrier play the "It's Yer Choice" game. This is a great game to help develop the dog's impulse control. Plus, it's just plain fun!

Awesome! How did you start to train them to not take the food until you gave it to them? How long did it take?

Thanks. I started with each dog alone. They each had a good down stay. Initially, I'd put a piece of food on the floor in front of them, and would pick it up or cover it with my hand if they tried to eat it. Once they left it alone I'd reward them with a treat from my hand. Then, I'd gradually move the treat closer to them and repeat the process, until eventually I was able to put one piece on their foot. I increased the difficulty over time. Once they knew the game, I did it with both dogs.
