  • Excellent,

I'm always on that first rule, and most say I'm pretty good on the second one as well...

I have all but stopped using CC even for convenience.

Just hate putting money in their pockets

  • Let me check my schedule... yep, no problem, lol

  • As far as keeping track of expenditures goes, you get the same result when you balance your checkbook.

The banks even send out an itemized statement at the end of every month - or you can view it online. So it's really no different than a credit card, only you have to have the money to spend. With a CC you don't but that's just temptation.

  • Dave actually has a three hour radio program and iTunes carries the first hour as a podcast. You could listen to that around the house. I've had a couple of friends who were hesitant or who had hesitant spouses, but once they heard it, it made sense to them and they were gung-ho to jump on board.

  • i wish i could get the hubby to pic up a book, i feel like if comes from someone else it won't sound like nagging. maybe i can make that an xmas present. he thinks it's easier to keep track of expenditures on credit and i think if you don't physically have it you shouldn't spend it.

  • Thank you Morning you are 100% correct. Please forward your instruction over to Drugstore Diva please.

  • The first step is to stop using them. Just stop. It'll be hard, but if you have a debit card it'll make it easier for you to transition.

Then list all your debts smallest to largest, pay minimum payments on everything except the smallest one and attack the smallest one with every spare penny you have. After it's paid off, close it and move on to the next one.

Also, pick up the book The Total Money Makeover by Dave Ramsey. It's a classic and a must read for credit card debt.
