Team Echo project

McGill robotics challenge Winter 2007
Goal:
- Find boxes, stack and bring them to unloading area.
- Avoid obstacles
- Full automation


Megatron robot is capable of self navigation, scans an enclosed area looking for boxes. Finds unloading area (darker floor) and drops off box stacks.

Components used:
2x Ultrasonic sensors
2x Light sensors
3x Infra red proximity sensors linked to a PIC16F687 microcontroller to communicate with the I2C interface of the main processor
1x Lego NXT brick

  • Xmmm max motors 3 but i see more actions... how?

  • The I2C interface on the Lego Brick uses 8 bit address, so even though it only has 4 ports, it can handle up to 128 devices on its bus. We built a micro-controller to receive and Q the data collected by our 4 sensors then feed it to a single brick port. The 3 other ports are used for the motors.
