This was shot on September 28, 2008; the day of the final home game ever at Shea Stadium. This is the IRT's "Train of Many Colors" passing by the 82 Street station in my neighborhood of Jackson Heights, Queens, New York, on the Manhattan-bound track of the Flushing IRT, aka the #7 line. The consist has just left the Corona Yard and is heading into "baseball special" service on the #7-line between Times Square and Willets Point-Shea Stadium . The consist is as follows: R33 Mainliners 9010-9011 (silver & blue), 9068-9069 (former in kale green, latter in 80's red), 9016-9017 (1960's red), R17 #6609, R15 #6239, R12 #5760 and R33 World's Fair #9306.

  • the mets suck.

  • @MrUncomfortableTruth I'm a Yankee fan myself - but I'm not gonna get into a baseball debate here, nor am I going to trash somebody else's team.

  • Wow, two historic landmarks shut down around the same time, and this historic equipment is there for both of their last games. It's sad to see them go.

  • The R33s and both ballparks are what I remember from my childhood. I miss the old "redbirds" on the #7 line and I'll miss going to Yankee Stadium (and Shea even tho I'm a Yankee fan.) I truly hope they decide to bring the museum's beauties out for Christmas.

  • Wow Jorge, glad you got it, but glad I decided to stay home too - the weather was shit.

  • I hear ya Josh, and in a way I don't blame you. I live only 2 blocks away from Roosevelt Avenue so it was a little easier for me, but if I was in your shoes, I probably would have stayed home too.

  • @RailFanTV wow, you are so classy. the mets still suck...

  • I loved the redbird trains!!!!

This is my stop when I grew up here!

  • Cool!

  • I also hope they will allow people to buy some of the old pieces of concrete and signs from the stadiums and such. It would be a shame for all of it to be completely gone!
