HaShomer HaChadash -- The New Israeli Guardians is a young, grassroots volunteer organization established in 2007 to help farmers and ranchers in the Negev and the Galilee who administer vast tracts of state-owned land to deal with the threat of illegal seizure of their land. Like the original Guardsmen who protected remote Jewish settlements 100 years ago, HaShomer HaChadash works to ensure a stronger Jewish presence in the Negev and the Galilee, promote a sense of mutual responsibility among the Jewish people and uphold the Zionist ideals on which the State of Israel was founded.




ארגון השומר החדש הוקם בשנת 2007 ע"י קבוצת פעילים אוהבי הארץ בראשות יואל זילברמן ואון ריפמן במטרה לסייע לחקלאים, לבוקרים ולכלל אזרחי המדינה בשמירה, עבודה חקלאית והחזקת השטחים הפתוחים בנגב ובגליל מתוך תפיסת ערבות הדדית ואחריות משותפת.
הארגון ממשיך את דרכה של תנועת 'השומר' שקמה בתחילת המאה 20, ותפקידו יצירת שינוי תודעתי ואסטרטגי בחברה הישראלית, חיזוק הקשר שנחלש לאדמה ולקרקע בישראל והעצמת חשיבות החזקת הקרקעות בשטחים הפתוחים בגליל ובנגב תוך חידוש הרעיון הציוני.

Strange. I've done the Sar-El program eight years in a row -- volunteering three weeks on an IDF base--and have never heard so much as a whisper about this. 

Questions arise: Is there a Bedouin side to this story? Is the speaker equating Bedouins with Israeli arabs? What excuse does the IDF, Border Police or other government units give for inaction?

Just one man Shai Dromi try do defend his farm from Beduin robbers with the gun and almost got in jail for some 10-15 yrs. Only huge public campaign saves him.

Self Defence is Human Right thats part of true democracy. Thoose farmers must be able to buy carbines, shotguns and pistols and there must be a clear self defence law.

Thank you for the English Translation. I want to hear more of his father - what happened to the land? I will never understand appeasement. Perhaps it's time for Israel to do some housecleaning. The allegiance bill is just a start. While I agree there should be a mixture of people in the Knesset the bottom line should be allegiance to the country or move to Trans-Jordan.
