Thanks for this! I went to college with David Yezzi, Carnegie Mellon University's conservatory theatre training program. We became good friends during those four rigorous years. You migt be interested to know that he was considered one of the better actors in our class. He was intense with a love of language. He complained though that after 4 years of theater training he felt he couldn't read a book any better than when he was in high school. He is a gifted poet.
BERN BABY, BERN! "A decidedly moderate, lukewarm, low IQ response to today's BERNING issues" Well done my friend, when my curiosity can be piqued by a book of poetry, that's a good indication of the talent of the reviewer. Just when I fear that you're becoming a one-trick pony, you continue to challenge your viewers to stretch their minds. Something far too few commentators have the genuine desire or ability to do.
I appreciate this a lot---particularly after the introduction where you expressed that the reading of poetry should be a speaker's/writer's advanced training. Everything is about bland brevity and simple utility these days---apparent in everything from communication to architecture...
