  • I just had this surgery 48 hours ago. Back home from the hospital and now on a liquid diet. Hoping that my recovery is a speedy one. I have a lot of pain in my left neck shoulder area for some reason. Difficult to swallow but I'm sure this will pass. I'll keep everyone updated.

  • @pocketaces0115 The pain in your neck is from the Co2 they pump inside your gut to inflate your stomach so the surgeons can see everything. It feels weird but your body absorbs the gas and you will feel better soon. Have someone rub your neck and you can actually hear the gas bubbles pop inside! Crazy!

Glad you posted. You will feel 100% better now that you have had this surgery!

  • this was very informing.. my mother is going to have hiatal surgery in 2 weeks and is scared. we were wondering where the actual hernia was in the video? was it that space of skin that needed to be closed tightly around the diaphram? thanks for any help you could give us Denise

  • the actual hernia wasnt in the video. the doctor didnt record that part or me but i have some pic of the hernia he took for me to see. the surgeon cuts out the hernia and cleans everything up in there... then he closed the diaphram. i am so glad this video helped.

  • jeez didnt that hurt afterwards??

  • i wish you the absolute best, this surgery ruined my life, if you have complications with it, and are concidering having it took down DO IT EARLY before the stommach grows to itself and it cannot be undone without a life threating discetion of the stomach. my gas bloat has caused my small intestine to expand and now i may have to have part of it removed. i can to nothing that i used to enjoy before, the gas bloat is bad enough but if you add liquid you may end up wearing diapers like i do.

  • @polaco614 Hi, I got this surgery on 2008, I had it taken down on 2009. I had horrible reflux but the surgey made things worse. I had rediculous bloating and more reflux after the surgery, it did not help at all and made my life more complicated. Since the takedown I've felt better but I still get a nasty bloating and pain, plus they also took my gallbladder out. My advise is to really modify ur diet and avoid all greasy foods...surgery cannot replace what we were born with.

  • @cln1921

Did you have neck pain and palpitations?

If so... did this fix it?

  • I am almost 22 years old, a couple years back i got a hiatal hernia.

I have heart palpitations, a very stiff neck, and jaw problems and weekness.

I really need help, I might be getting this surgery but im scared the complications will outweigh the benifits, can someone please offer me some guidance on wether i should get this done or not?

  • I had this surgery in Perth< Western Australia, 5 days ago. I have had GORD (in Australia we spell it "oesophagus") all of my 70 years. 40mg of Nexium daily kept the reflux under control, but there was always severe burning of the lower end of my oesophagus and this gave rise to concerns of possible Barret's Oesophagus and cancer. Have got through the clear liquid diet and now on nutricious liquids. I too suffered the high chest pain and now only have local pain from procedure Baz of Perth

  • Great video man, this gives soon to be patients a great view of what really happens instead of it being explained. My fiance is having this surgery next week and I really hope it helps and she has a speedy recovery. I hope you're feeling better by now:)

  • @panic1844 they are the nerves that run down the esophagus that cause that OH crap I just stood up to fast feeling. and the OMG there is a needle I'm gonna pass out feeling. Now when ever my blood pressure raises to high I pass out.

  • to panic1844, how long ago did u have the surgery? how bad are u feeling? I really dont know which way to go on this. I am thinking to do it next year 2011. please any help would be great. I would like anyone to email me on shoot@2u.net.nz regards,

  • @naynaychilover I feel ur pain, I even had it taken down but still feel waful. I think they cut nerves in there that affect digestion..
